Scalable and low-friction platforms such as Amazon Web Services or OpenStack enjoy great take-up in the commercial space, especially by start-ups.  But how can they be used in the scientific context? This session will show some examples of successful applications by researchers, as well as platform extensions required to support sustainable business models.
