Ian Duncan was previously the Associate Director of Enterprise Support at Information Technology Services, The University of Queensland (UQ) and has been with UQ since 2001 during which time he has held the roles of school IT manager, Research Institute IT Manager and Operations Manager, and Associate Director of Infrastructure and Operations for the University's central IT division.

Ian managed 88 staff in 7 teams which deliver and support the infrastructure and operations underlying the ICT services for over 7,500 staff and 45,000 students. These services include UQ's online presence, student management, email, payroll, HR, e-learning, finance, databases, records management, data centers, servers, storage, virtualisation, cloud services, records management, and identity systems.

Ian holds a degree in Economics and Politics and a Graduate Diploma in Computer Science (both from Monash Uni) and prior to joining the University he worked at the Shell Oil Company and National Australia Bank in Melbourne, as well as founding and running an ISP and payment gateway company, also in Melbourne.
