Dr Tim Chown is senior network services developer at Jisc, having previously been a lecturer at the University of Southampton, where he remains a Visiting Fellow. His main area of interest currently lies with end-to-end network performance, working with various research and education communities to assist them in making optimum use of their Janet connectivity for network-intensive applications. As co-chair of the UK IPv6 Council, Dr Chown continues to promote wider deployment of IPv6. His past work includes being one of the original designers of the eduroam service within TF-Mobility. He is also co-chair of the IETF dnssd WG, which is defining methods for scalable DNS-based service discovery, including campus network scenarios.
